Author:

Property Sector Charter Council

Resource Type:

Research Paper

Organisation:

Property Sector Charter Council

Publication Date:

11th of June 2012

Description

This research aims to create a hub of knowledge about the size of the SA property sector, consolidating information and developing a common and consistent understanding of the sector for all participants.

The intention is to provide an initial indication of the size of the SA property sector as a starting point against which various transformation charter imperatives can be assessed. The primary measure for market size is value and not physical size, although where available this is considered in concert.

This report provides a snapshot of the SA property sector as at the end of 2010. The effect of property cycles on the total value can be significant, and so it is anticipated that this research will be regularly reviewed and updated.

This report therefore constitutes the first step of a larger project by the Property Sector Charter Council – the subsequent phases will also involve the undertaking of an analysis of ownership and activity patterns within the sector, and will be informed by input received from this report.
